2011 Faculty and Staff Awards
At a May 3, 2011, event, the College of Engineering recognized an outstanding lineup of faculty and staff whose service and contributions extend from the college to the world. Recipients of the College of Engineering annual awards each receive privately funded stipends and permanent recognition on a plaque in Engineering Hall. Each winner is chosen by a committee of his or her peers.

The Byron Bird Award for Excellence in a Research Publication
David E. Foster

In the 1980s, Phil and Jean Myers Professor of Mechanical Engineeering David Foster applied for a grant from the National Science Foundation to explore a type of combustion. The grant reviewers turned down his proposal; what he was advocating seemed impossible. BIO »

Don Schramm has a superpower that he can share with the world. It is the ability to mitigate disaster.
