Personal Statement

Eman Zaki joined the college of engineering in 1996 as a Student Services Coordinator. Among her duties are advising pre-engineering students and co-instructing EPD 101: Contemporary Issues in the Engineering Profession. In addition to her involvement with students at UW-Madison, Eman is involved with students considering UW-Madison. She coordinates two outreach programs for the college. The first is ESTEAM (Engineering Saturdays for Tomorrow's Engineers at Madison), a program that invites high school students to spend a Saturday on the engineering campus. The second is the students' outreach calling program.

Eman received her B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 1977, and worked as a site construction engineer for 8 years before coming to the U.S. to continue her graduate education. She received an M.E. degree from PSU in Civil Engineering. While in PSU, she was co-teaching an Introductory to Transportation course and working on several research projects among them a two-year project to increase the pool of civil engineering students.

Appreciate the learning opportunities available here on campus and take advantage of them, is the advise she has to all students.
