Suresh to collaborate with Mercury Marine on topology optimization

Collaborating with Milwaukee-based Mercury Marine, Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor Krishnan Suresh has received a National Science Foundation Grant Opportunities for Academic Liaison with Industry award to develop a new method for optimizing the topology, or the layout of material, in manufactured products. The $242,606 grant will allow the team to explore methods of improving the speed and reliability of the topology optimization process and reduce the need for physical prototyping.
